JOSHIU

Tuesday, March 28, 2006

Okay, this got my attention today. I have accepted that for the rest of my life people are not going to say/spell my name correctly. It may bother me every now and then, but I generally believe most people want to try to say my name correctly. I never demand that they get it right or offended if they blow it. As a child, even I struggled with my name, spelling it wrong or pronouncing it incorrectly. If I had trouble then there is no reason to believe that others wouldnt. I have been called Josh, Joshi, Joshua, Joe-sue, Joe-sue-ee, Josh-shwe, Josie, HOce, Hoser, Hoes-way, Sway, Jose (countless times) even Ho-o-sway can you see. . .(shaking my head as I say it). The list goes on. I do whatever I can to help. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. But today, made me smile. I faxed ordered a yummy burrito for lunch today with my name spelled correctly. Did it come back that way? Side Note: Yes I logically see why some people call me Joshua when they see Josue whether people are truly aware that they are translations of the each other. It is reaching but I can see it. But, spelled Joshiu? Please! And its is generally safe to say that a latino made my burrito, although I could be wrong. I really shouldnt assume. But comeon. A fellow latino probably did put my order together. Well I have another name to add to my list.

Thinking of all this puts an idea into mind. I should work on an inventing a name tag that repeats the name written on phonetically. Wouldnt that be great? . . .

Lack of Lunch

Friday, March 24, 2006

So being that I am alone, (that is not necessarily a complaint) and with much encouragement, (not that encouragement is the word I would use, but will for the sake of what few bloggers still read my blog) I write a blog. Work is going well. I have been tossed into the deep end. Is it stressful? Yeah, a little. But I am treading water, and for those of you who have seen me tread water, lets just say that is not reflective of how I am doing. Everyday is like a huge SUDOKU problem I have to solve. I love it. So yeah things are going great. Of course every good thing has its drawbacks. For example, this week nobody touched my lunch. Cannot say much about last week. . . . .
. . .
. . .
. . .
. . .

Yeah, somebody ate my lunch one day. You might be thinking how terrible that can be, and I will not deny that it appears that way, but I really cannot complain. It is not like I paid for it. But when I got to the break room my sandwich was gone. Oh well, so I make sure I am one of the first people to get to the break room when lunch arrives. I eye everyone up and down looking at them suspiciously for any clue to the culprit who stole my lunch long ago. We live in an uncivilized world, where we teach the uneducated (what is mine is mine and I want more). Of course I think this as I walk out with a hint of contempt and my lunch securely protected under my arm. MINE!

But things are getting better. I love Chicago. The drivers suck. I will refrain on going on a rant. People from Chicago know. And I am not blaming everyone, but those of you in Chicago know who you are. Today was beautiful; I really wished I had my camera. Last night we had some snowfall, Not enough fell to say we had an inch, but enough to cover the ground white. Well on my to work I go through a small forest, maybe thicket is more appropriate of trees alongside the Des Plaines River. The trees are gray, but with their bare limbs and branches covered in snow it is an amazing sight. So many branches, it was great. I am going to miss winter. Of course I can say that with one of the warmer winters Chicago has ever experienced.

DISCLAIMER:CAPITALISM DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOUR LUNCH GETS TAKEN FROM YOU. OKAY MAYBE IT DOES A LITTLE. BUT YOU DIDN’T HEAR IT FROM ME.

BABY!! Well not yet but almost.

My twin brother is having a baby! Well his wife is, you get the picture. YAY to CUTE PICTURES and BABY SPIT UP everywhere. CONGRATULATIONS!

YAY I'M IN CHICAGO!!!

Saturday, February 04, 2006

Hello my happy readers. Well maybe not so happy, but hopefully excited to see that I have actually posted something. The move went very smoothly. All my stuff arrived a few days after I arrived, relatively in the condition it was packed. My car is here too, shivering in the cold in a lot not far from my abode.

The only challenge or frustrating experience I have had or have been having is setting up my phone and DSL. I currently do not have either even though the order was made almost a month ago. I will make a very feeble attempt at not naming companies. But I have never had a problem with this company before till now. Maybe its just their Illinois's office. They have to be the most Simple Brainless Company to have ever existed. Maybe its their merger with Another Thickheaded Tight-wad of a company . Anyways, they are suppose to come on Wednesday. We will see.

On Jobs. I hate work. I don't think I want to work ever again. Can I retire early? But lets be real. My sugar momma is running out of sugar and salt but thats another topic for another day. I had an interview last week. I have three more scheduled for early next. One is with one of my previous vendors. I have applied for several jobs. Hopefully this part will go as smoothly as the move. Some of these interviews are most definitely temp opportunities.

I love you all. (Even if I only have on reader left)

Congratulations to Rikki and Steven (Stew)
Love for Beth and Andres (Andy)
Kisses for Sarah (aka Sugar Mama)
Hugs for Naomi and JR (Sugar Mamas in waiting)
and blessings to the rest of you

Hufflepuff!
The Sorting Hat has spoken! You've got 65 House Points!
Head of House: Professor Sprout

House Colors: Yellow and Black

House Animal: The Badger

Hufflepuff chose the students everyone else didnt want. Or those who didn't fit too easily into any category. Those who were cunning, but not ambitious. Those who were hardworking, though perhaps not TOO brave. Good people none the less. You are most likely the friend everyone would like to have, loyal, trustworthy, hardworking. Love sports too! You are cool in my book. The majority of people will wind up right here with you, so chances are, you will make some great friends!

Some students of Hufflepuff include... Susan Bones, Justin Flinch-Fletchley, and Cedric Diggory.

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

...and the rest of you who care, what is going on in my life.

On October 8th I was baptized. It was a huge day for me and I was excited that some of my family and Sarah could be there. I was a bit nervous because Pastor Russ asked me to give a quick testimony when all the seats were nearly filled with the church celebrating it’s one year anniversary.

Work has been a bit stressful. My bosses are slightly concerned because I have been falling a bit behind, but they also understand the enormity of the responsibilities I have. Maybe it’s a little bit of short-timers thats getting in the way, regardless, I’m getting through it. Today I will be back on track even though I have a meeting with the controller and some of the other accountants form the business office.

A lot of changes are going on. Most of you already know that Darik is now married (to Amy) and has moved to Kansas (Overland Park). (side note: Amy has been asked to apply for another job within the company and if accepted they might be moving again to Chicago.) Joel is moving this week to Encinitas to more focus on his relationship with Julie. I will be heading back out to Chicago in early November to have an interview with a job staffing group. I’m looking forward to it.

As far as my family is concerned, I have only told Anna about my seriousness of getting to Chicago in January. Bernice is learning quickly. She will be sad to see me go like much of my family. But this will be the month in which I tell them. The Kings will be town in a few weeks with Homecoming approaching. So those of you who understand, (Andres & Beth) wish me luck.

Other than that not much is new. My doctor suggested I go back to wearing glasses. So I bought a pair. I play a lot of golf I love it, its fun. (I know, I know, not a very good symbol of wanting to help the impoverished or oppressed.) I need to go bowling sometime soon, or save it for winter activities in Shy Town. I love my brother and his wife. I hope everything is going well for both of you. I love Fifi-Tinkerbelli (sp?) I wish you all the best.

What famous leader are you?
